ECC Day 324: “The Hats We Wear”
As educators, we wear many hats, sometimes multiple in any given moment. There’s the mentor/role model hat, parenting hat, nurse hat, teacher hat, confidential hat, make sure you’re fed and hydrated hat, mandated reporter hat, help you learn not to pick your nose in public hat, and many more. What other hats, educators? Comment below!! Educators do more than teach students specific subject matter, as it relates to daily and future lives, in a 30-90 minute period of time. Educators help their students become and stay well; educators demonstrate that their students’ voices, stories and experiences are valued and heard, and take priority over any academic requirements. That is one of the biggest hats we wear. What would it be like if educators ALL OVER THE WORLD were treated with such similar dignity? Would they wear fewer hats? Unlikely, but that doesn’t matter as much to those educators. What matters is that we are ALL doing our part to support each other.
